Postal Museum was the first museum set up in the newly created Czechoslovak state
It happened by decision of the Minister of Post and Telegraph Offices of 18 December 1918, whereby the Chief Post Officer Václav Dragoun was charged to conduct "preparatory works necessary for the establishment of an independent postal museum." As a matter of coincidence, the decision was issued on the same day as the first Czechoslovak postage stamps, i.e. a couple of renowned definitive stamps Prague Castle with different face values and a couple of newspaper stamps designed by world-famous painter Alfons Mucha with different face values.
